The materials from which expanded metal is standardly produced are ordinary steel, aluminum and stainless steel. The principle of production is the so-called "Weightlifting" - a sheet of metal I cut and then stretched. There is almost no loss of material in this process and the resulting product is larger and lighter than the input material. The product is then rolled, creating a more affordable alternative to perforated sheets or leaving a non-rolled output. A suitable surface treatment is hot-dip galvanizing or comaxiting (powder coating).
